Business Link supports Enterprise Tuesday at Cambridge University

Release Date:
1 Nov 2007

Business Link is supporting the Enterprise Tuesday programme at Cambridge University; a series of free evening lectures and networking sessions run by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL) designed to inspire entrepreneurial ambition and introduce participants to the world of business.

"These high quality lectures and networking events are an excellent way to introduce potential entrepreneurs to the breadth of services offered by Business Link from business start up workshops through to specialist research and information and our supplier brokerage service", Steve Clarke, Business Link Partnership Manager said.

Business Link, the government-funded service promoting enterprise in the region, is sponsoring the session on 6th November with guest speakers, David Cleevely, the Chairman of the Communications Research Network, part of the Cambridge MIT Institute (and the founder and former Chairman of telecoms consultancy Analysys); and Jonathan Milner, the Co-founder and Group Chief Executive of Abcam Plc. These successful entrepreneurs will be sharing their experiences and advising delegates on recognising good business opportunities.

Enterprise Tuesday students can also benefit from a new, free internet tool that has been launched by Business Link and GradsEast, giving them the information and encouragement they need to take the first step towards starting their own businesses. Further information about this resource can be found on the CfEL web site - http://www.cfel.jbs.cam.ac.uk - via the Enterprise Tuesday programme pages.

Business Link and GradsEast joined together to create the tool, after they discovered that 40% of students are thinking of starting a business, but only 3%* will actually do so. The tool gives any students or graduates thinking of going it alone a starting point with hints and tips and information on where to go next with their ideas.

Enterprise Tuesday runs from October to February at Cambridge University's Engineering Department from 6pm to 8:30pm.
