Leading International Conference Invites Cutting-Edge Insights into the Global Creative Economy.

Release Date:
18 Apr 2007

The fifth annual Creative Clusters conference has put out a global ‘Call for Presentations'. The conference, in London for the first time, is the leading international event on policy for the creative economy, and on culture-led regeneration.

Creative Clusters is looking for speakers with up-to-the-minute insights from all parts of the UK and the world.

Simon Evans Director of Creative Clusters, said:

"Today, creativity is the key factor driving development. Businesses based on creativity are transforming the global economy, and policy-makers are scrambling to respond. But change is so rapid that there are no infallible experts in this field, and often the most valuable experiments and insights come from people working on the front line. If you have compelling experience or evidence for policy-makers, showing how creativity is impacting on all areas of economic development and regeneration, we want to hear from you."

Proposals are invited for presentations and workshops on the themes below:

1. The Creative Quarter

As cities across the world develop new zones for creativity, we examine the role of the cultural district in the 21st century city.

2. Opportunity in the Creative Economy

How do we tackle concerns that the benefits of creative industry growth are being disproportionately enjoyed by an exclusive and protective ‘creative class'?

3. World Creative Hubs

As globalisation gathers pace, what new centres of world creativity, and what new relationships between them, are emerging?

4. The Creative Crowd

How is the power of the creative crowd changing the media landscape, and how should policy-makers respond?

Creative Clusters runs November 9th to 14th in four areas of London, each of them dense concentrations of creative enterprise and cultural activity: the South Bank, the City Fringe, Soho/West End and Exhibition Road. In addition there will be a host of visits to projects across the city.

Simon Evans said:

"London is home to some of the most substantial and sustained public investments in creative industries in the world. It is also home to many world-leading media and creative businesses that have grown without any form of direct government intervention. And of course London's cultural offer is exceptional. We are delighted that the Mayor has invited Creative Clusters 2007 to London."

Visit http://creativeclusters.com to submit presentation proposals. The Call closes on Sunday 6th May.
