New course is the business
Starting in September this year the University of Hertfordshire Business School is offering professional, managerial level, accountancy courses in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
The courses will be suited to individuals who are registered with the CIMA as a student and will be, in the majority of cases, a graduate who wishes to become a qualified accountant. Once an individual passes all six papers on offer at the University in the Management level they will be classed a part-qualified accountant. In most cases, the attendees will be working in accounting jobs within local businesses, charities and both central and local government bodies.
This offering by the Business School will give local people the chance to study these courses in a professional, modern teaching environment on campus within small class sizes, in order to maximise their learning experience. Currently the majority of students wishing to study for these qualifications have to complete them through two national private providers.
Raymond Cobb, Programme Leader for Professional and Executive Accounting Courses at the University of Hertfordshire, said: "Our Business School is already well recognised for its undergraduate accounting courses. This is a further extension of the offering of our Professional and Executive courses by the Business School to the local business community in order to meet their needs and wishes. It reflects that the Business School is definitely open for business."
CIMA is a leading membership body that offers a globally recognised professional management accounting qualification. Its members can be found as the key finance professionals within commercial businesses, not-for-profit sector and public bodies.
